Experiences with insects give some artists the itch to create. Lata is a remote village in the Noyabrsk area of Siberia, known for long winters and summers filled with mosquitoes. Artists are often inspired by their local environment and Valery Chaliy is no exception. Surrounded by plenty of scrap from abandoned cars as his medium and inspired by the millions of mosquitoes inhabiting from nearby swamps, Chaliy built the sculpture pictured left. …
