Mint is a great garden plant if you want to attract our native bee and wasp pollinators. Argogorytes nigrifrons, a species of sand wasp, is a common visitor to mint in Indiana.

Not much is known about its biology. It is one of only two species of Argogorytes in North America and the only species in Indiana. Other species of Argogorytes are predators specializing on spittle bugs (Cercopidae) and a good possibility exists that Argogorytes nigrifrons also hunts…
