Many fish are predators and naturally consume insects as part of their diet. Thus, it may seem strange that the European Union in its oversight of food production does not currently allow the use of commercially reared insects in feed for fish. Insects are a good source of protein and can make efficient use of otherwise unused resources. The need for new and sustainable protein makes insects a logical food choice for fish. This led the EU review and revise its standards….
