Great Spangled Fritillary

The counts are complete and the results will be posted on Monday. Once again, Cabbage White butterflies topped the list followed by Silver Spotted Skipper at #2. The surprise #3 was Great Spangled Fritillary with 22 sightings. The last time for comparable numbers was 2005. Overall, numbers were low, the second lowest total in 15 years. This is due to unusual weather. May 2015 was unusually cool with highs only in the 50sF on some days. This unseasonably cool weather…
