KC Royals fans sport mantis masks
Baseball players are a superstitious lot. A praying mantis appeared at a KC Royals game at the beginning of August, a night when the Royals rallied to win and began a turnaround. The mantid hung out in the dugout and the team kept winning until the night the mantid had died: The Royals lost.
They have since acquired a female mantis that they keep in a cage, feeding it the crickets they catch on the field. Players who hit a home run or a clutch hit will kiss…
