Zika Virus continues to be transmitted throughout the Americas and the Caribbean. Some Zika associated birth defects may have genetic or other causes. Therefore it is important to know the prevalence of birth defects in the population prior to the spread of Zika in 2016. Scientists from the CDC collected data on birth defects in the years 2013-2014 for 747 infants and fetuses. They found the prevalence of birth defects to be less than 3 in 1000….
